International Arrivals
Passports & Visas
If you are travelling on an Australian passport you do not need a visa to enter New Zealand as long as you don’t intend to work or stay longer than 3 months.
This applies to some other countries as well (including most European countries) – click here to check the official NZ visa entry requirements:

Your passport must remain valid while you are in New Zealand.
Travel
The nearest international airports are Wellington and Palmerston North. We will be operating busses from both of these locations to get participants to the moot site.
Airlines flying into these airports are:
Air New Zealand
Qantas
Freedom Air
Pacific Blue
If flying into Auckland or Christchurch International Airports it is a one (1) hour domestic flight to Wellington.
Climate
Easter in New Zealand is autumn; the evenings are usually cold. Otaki has a slightly warmer micro climate but will probably range in temperature from 5-25ºC.
Time Zone
New Zealand is GMT+12. In addition to this Daylight Saving Time will be in effect at Easter so the time zone will be GMT + 13 for Midnight Moot.
Currency
The national currency of New Zealand is the NZ Dollar ($NZD). One NZ Dollar = 100 cents. Coins in circulation are 10c, 20c, 50c, $1, $2. Bank notes in circulation are $5, $10, $20, $50, $100. You can work out the exchange rates here:

To pay for Midnight Moot you will need to purchase an International Bank Draft in NZD from your bank – they normally charge $10-$25 for this, depending on the bank. A Draft is a foreign currency Bank Cheque drawn on an overseas bank. This allows you to pay us in New Zealand Dollars with all conversion fees sorted up front and gives you the security of knowing you have paid the correct amount. You might find it cheaper to pay as a group with others in your contingent (this would only require one bank draft to be purchased).
Note if you pay in a currency other than NZD we may need to charge you for our bank and conversion fees.
Electrical Supply
Electricity is supplied throughout New Zealand at 230 / 240 volts, 50 hertz. Electrical equipment from a 110-volt system needs transformers. Power outlets only accept flat three or two-pin plugs, depending on whether an earth connection is fitted.
This is the same as Australia.
Cell Phones
NZ has both CDMA (Telecom) and GSM (Vodafone) coverage so cellphones on “global roaming” will work fine. There is cellphone coverage at the Midnight Moot site.
Credit Cards
Unfortunately Midnight Moot does not have a credit card facility. Most modern bank cards should work fine in our EFT-POS equipment, or we can get you to a bank money machine to withdraw funds should you need it.
Medical Attention
Australia has reciprocal arrangements with New Zealand.
In New Zealand you cannot sure anyone for compensatory damages if you are injured. All accident victims are entitled to free hospital treatment, even if an overseas visitor.
